Why I Love Photographing Small Families

Every family is so unique, so special and different in so many incredible ways. It brings me so much joy to experience your love for each other and capture whatever stage of life that your family is in. My goal in every family session is to help you feel at ease, encourage you and capture your natural family dynamic. I’m all about keeping it real and relaxed, so don’t stress about what you look like, if you think you need to lose a few pounds, how the kids are going to behave, or even if you have one of those pesky zits – You’re going to kill it! I Promise! I’ll absolutely be there to support, encourage and help direct along the way.

Most people still think that a photoshoot is going to be awkward, boring and full of the “CHEEEEEEESE!” smiles. The truth is, these photos are meant to tell your story. So bring your genuine self, and there is no doubt we’ll capture some amazing photos together.

What encompasses a “Small Family” anyway? Well, it typically includes anyone within your immediate family. Have one beautiful child? Perfect. Did God bless your crew with 8 kiddos? That’ll work for me too! Ha! Here’s the deal, if you’re looking for someone to capture your big ol’ family reunion, I’m probably not the best fit, this time.

A SESSION BUILT AROUND YOU

From the planning stages until the day of your shoot, I want to spend my time getting to know your crew and creating an experience that fits your story. We’ll go beyond the studio poses; and instead, you’re basically adopting me into your life for an hour or so. Try to think of it less like a big formal shoot, and more like a few friends hanging out and getting some incredible pictures while we’re at it!

Before your session, I’ll send you a guide packed with all my tips and tricks. From wardrobe to location scouting, I’m an open book ready to share all the knowledge I’ve gained photographing over the last eight years. During the session, I’ll have a handful of favorite activities that will give your little ones something to do, or if you have ideas for an epic location or fun activity I’m 100% down to go with the flow.
